Columbus Arts Festival 2025
I started a new project this weekend that is taking a lot of my attention. I don’t know how I feel about it yet.
We went to the Columbus Arts Festival today and it was great! We saw The Whiteouts, a local punk band I’m otherwise unfamiliar with, play a set under the railway bridge. Such a unique venue. I bought a print from Taylor C Adams. We weren’t able to stay too long, but we got to see almost everything and we got some excellent soft pretzels! I’m glad we were able to fit it in at the end of a busy weekend.
YouTube
I wanted to highlight youtuber Bread on Penguins for making some absolutely killer Linux content. If you want to feel some genuine excitement about using a computer again, this channel is a good step in that direction.
Games
I played through the start of the Vending Dokan demo a few times after a YouTuber I follow highlighted their booth at DreamHack. The game is out now in early access. My main concern with buying it before the full release is that, at least during the demo, every update wiped out all progress. If they keep doing that I don’t think I want to start playing yet. But the game is very good! Very fun
I hopped on the trend and played a bunch of Star Wars Battlefront 2 last weekend. I was in full burn out mode. So I basically did nothing but play it for half a day. The game is still the same. It was nice to play when a lot of people were online because I was not the worst person on the server for once. I imagine I will uninstall it again soon.
I played through some portion of the Vampire Survivors Emerald Diorama DLC. This game has always been a bit brainrot. I guess this plus Battlefront demonstrates a trend for me of some kind lol
Reading
Like every blogger, I started The Notebook A History of Thinking on Paper. It is excellent! It might be a long time before I read the whole thing as I lost access to the copy I was reading for reasons that will be clear if I ever write about my current project. That being said this is one of very few non-fiction books that I’ve connected with so easily. I hope the rest of it is as good as the start!
I got Neal Stephenson’s Termination Shock out of the library. I’m only a few chapters into this as well. I usually like Stephenson’s books, with a few exceptions. This one looks pretty good.
The Journey Continues
Currently watching the NBA Finals. I don’t even really like basketball. It’s been fun though. Kind of makes it hard to write a blog article when I’m this distracted. So I’m going to leave this here. Until next time~
