Vacation - Week Notes
Just got back from vacation and we found the coolest store! Retro Jake’s in Richmond, Indiana. They’ve got a sizable arcade and an excellent game selection from NES through the modern era. We spent a couple of hours there. I played a few games of DDR, a little Mortal Kombat 4, a bit of CarnEvil, and picked up a few games for my collection.
I got Streets of Rage 2 and Menacer for Sega Genesis and Star Wars Racer Revenge for PS2. My girlfriend got a bunch of Pokemon cards includig a few singles.
There was also a record store next door and comic store after that. I got a few vhs tapes from each - Rage Against the Machine and Jimi Hendrix from the first and The Day the Earth Stood Still from the second.
One of the other cool things about this trip was how we prepared and packed food. We managed to only eat at restaurants a few times on the trip. The rest was sandwiches, leftover pasta, pepperoni and salami, cheese, apples, nuts, hardboiled eggs, and overnight oatmeal. I know a lot of people probably do this all the time, but for us this was the first trip where we were this successful!
Games
Aside from the arcade games I mentioned above, all of which were great, I played no new games this week. Pretty much all of our free time went to prepping for the trip or being on the trip. I’ve got some more Steam demos lined up to try though!
I did take my DS on the trip but I never used it because I was too busy reading!
Reading
I finished Polaris Rising from last week and started and finished the sequel Aurora Blazing also by Jessie Mihalik. Much like the first book this one has some nsfw scenes. The plot for this one is great as well! It follows one of the sister’s of the main character from the first book. I definitely recommend this series if the nsfw stuff doesn’t put you off.
Music
I had my girlfriend make a note on the drive that I really liked a track from thorhighheels’ Skung. For the life of me I don’t know which track it was anymore, but it was probably “two thousand two”. Great album!
The Journey Continues
Still going non-stop over here. Just tons of stuff to do! I made no progress on any of my projects and gained at least one new one to add to the pile. That’s life I guess. Better than having nothing to do.
I hope your life is full but not overwhelming. Figure out what’s really important to you and curate your pile. Until next time ~Stay chill and enjoy!
