Japanese Word of the day: くだらない - from Jisho.org: good-for-nothing; stupid; trivial; worthless My friend sent me the sentence “この世界はただのくだらないゲームです” as a quote from No Game No Life - “This world is just a shit game”. I’m not actually sure where he pulled that quote from. So I’m not sure if that’s the exact wording from the novels or not. I’ve really enjoyed NGNL and this is one of my favorite quotes from the series.

This year sucked. However some things worked. Tops Video game of the year Magic the Gathering Arena Arena reignited my interest in Magic for the first time since the Scars of Mirrodin block (2010-2011). Right after New Phyrexia was released I ended up putting my time into fighting games, especially Vampire Savior and I didn’t have any time for Magic anymore. After playing this game a lot off and on since about a month before the open beta I’ve also bought a decent amount of cards and attended a prerelease.

This is my second time taking a look through my open tabs. I have a lot of long lived tabs once again! Time to clean house and get some of these archived. I can now push to my site from my phone via rsync! I added my Termux install’s ssh pub key to my nearlyfreespeech.net account. I wrote a one line script to make the rsync call that Guillermo Garron describes on his blog: rsync -v -rzz --checksum --chmod=Du=rwx,Dgo=rx,Fu=rw,Fog=r --delete <path-to-site>/ <user>@<server>:/<path> I had to install rsync via the following command: pkg install rsync The -z compression option Garron recommends doesn’t work in Termux but switching to -zz (as the command’s own warning states) does work.

I’m adding ringtones via Termux because you can script the process! Instructions assume a ~ (Termux home) start point. Download the file from wherever you’re keeping it. You can use curl or some other such thing. There are some Creative Commons files you can get off YouTube with youtube-dl (although YouTube frowns on downloading their videos at all). youtube-dl --extract-audio --audio-format mp3 <link to YT video> You then need to move this to the Ringtones folder (or Notifications or Alarms depending on your usecase).
